Mary Seph's Digital Garden V2.2 Wireframes
As I continue to be without access to a large screen, I took the time to create a wireframe of the sketches I made.
Similar the current layout, I've kept the title and nav on top, with an <hr> separating it from the body. Similarly, the body and the footer are separated with the dashed line.
The differences are in the body. It's a two-column layout with a right sidebar. The main column has three elements, an introductory message, a header, and the weblog.
I decided to use the weblog format because the current layout looks too busy. I think having a list that didn't make any differences on the type of post would have the homepage easier to navigate. I might or might not keep the emoticons to differenciate from the type of post.
Then there's the side bar. I took inspiration from Brennan's weblog, brennan.day. In this sidebar there will be various section. I'll move the latest note section and latest status sections here. Then I'll add a Last Tended section to resurface a post on my digital garden that I last edited. Maybe I'll make it scrollable but I'm not sure about accessibility. The sections will have the same or similar relative sizes.
For the mobile view, I'm moving the sidebar under the main column. Simple as pie.
What I still don't have clear is how the weblog part is gonna look. It could be the same type of list I have right now with a date title format. Or I could make it more like Brennan's with a title, date, tags, and excerpt although now I write this, the excerpt will not lend itself well for some post types like Crafts and Garden.
I do however need to heavyly spent some time cleaning up the metada of all of my posts. This is another reason why I want to have a local-first set up and stop posting directly (except for the microblog). But that's a wholeeeee other thing.
Final note, these images were dithered with ditherit.com. First time I do this! I think theyblool nice!
